MdM Museum was launched in Autumn 2007 out of the desire of the owners and the president to create an alternative to the trendy, recreation-focused aspects that, alongside its natural wonders, characterise the Costa Smeralda. From the outset, the approach of the owners has been geared not towards generating transitory events but towards constructing solid itineraries that have what it takes to last. MdM Museum embodies a real sensitivity towards culture, breaking away from the by-now obsolete clichés that often make cultural venues so stereotypically boring. With its light-filled and innovative routes, MdM guides visitors subtly, but without superficiality, through the discovery of works immersed in ever-evocative choreographies. On entering the museum, visitors prepare to undertake a voyage that will lead them to the threshold of the fourth-floor terrace, where a champagnery – embellished with bona fide works of design art – awaits them. On summer evenings, visitors are wont to end their museum visit under a star-spangled sky with a glass of champagne, accompanied by pane carasau (Sardinian bread), pecorino sardo (Sardinian cheese) and honey.
This is the magic of the museum in Porto Cervo.
But that’s not all: MdM is a pearl enclosed within the delightful Promenade du Port, a retail village where, caressed by perfumes of myrtle, you can stroll peacefully along, admiring the art, the design and the original, upscale boutiques and stores. And after an aperitif at the museum, the evening comes to a close with dinner in one of the village's wonderful, refined restaurants. The Promenade du Port faces the historical Porto Vecchio, just a stone’s throw from the ‘Piazzetta’, and together with MdM Museum, it represents a new and contemporary way to experience a holiday on the Costa Smeralda. The events selected for MdM Museum are always supported by the desire of the founders to offer the public unprecedented and unexpected emotions through exhibitions that are utterly unique in their themes and staging. To this end, MdM benefits from the input of highly qualified and internationally experienced professional curators. On this basis, MdM Museum is preparing – in 2009, as before – to unveil yet more events that will serve as catalysts for passion and enthusiasm, all set against the backdrop of the Promenade du Port on the Costa Smeralda.
